Now, I won't say that my mom is the coolest mom on planet Earth. That's not fair of me to say - I haven't even come close to meeting all the moms out there. I can, however, say with absolute certainty that my mom is the best mom for me.
...and still pretty frickin' cool relative to all the other moms I've met.
Over my lifetime, she has been my teacher (I was homeschooled in first grade), my hairdresser and clothing designer (until about fifth grade), my bank account (oops), my party planner, my interior decorator, and my therapist. She has also been my hero. She is the single strongest woman I have ever had the privilege of knowing. She puts up with my dad (HUGE feat), cleans the house, cares for a dog and a cat, mows the lawn, does the laundry (for three kids in their 20s), makes dinner, works a full-time job, and still finds time to make us smile.
She is considerate, hilarious, intelligent, and has the biggest heart of anyone I know. She is everything I am and I'm still not half the woman she is. However, my favorite thing about my mom isn't that she knows that all I want after a tough day is ice cream. It's not that she walks around the house quoting Evgeni Malkin and puts up with my hockey obsession. It's not even that she still writes me tiny notes that say how much she loves me. It's that she is my best friend - my absolute best friend.

...oh yeah - and she still cuts my bangs.
Aww! Cute post! I've only met your mom a few times, and she is such a sweetie. I know I've seen her around town a few times and (even though I know she has NO IDEA who I am) I always say hello and she stops to talk. haha.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day/Birthday to her!
P.S. The Franklin girls won't let our mother around our bangs. whew. Glad your mom has that skill!
Such a sweet post! Your mom sounds awesome. And y'all have the exact same smile in that picture of her!
