Unpopular Opinions.

I fully expect to lose some friends, but here we go...

I'm not crazy about Beyonce. I don't think she's a goddess or perfect or the true First Lady of the United States. Although I like some of her music, I'm just not really into her. Never have been. Now, Jay-Z, on the other hand...

I think high-waisted shorts are ugly and unflattering. Sure, some girls can pull them off, but the majority of us? No way. I know this is the hottest music festival trend since flower crowns, but I just can't get on board with something so misshapen.

Hashtags have spiraled completely out of control. In theory, the use of the hashtag is brilliant for social media - an easy way to connect tweets or posts with a common theme. But now, people hashtag things that make absolutely no sense. I have no issue with #TBT, #MCM, etc., but what is your end game if you're posting something ridiculous like #JustHitSnoozeOnMyAlarmSixTimes #CantWakeUp #MondaysSuck?

Coffee is disgusting. I don't care how much sweetener, sugar, cream, or pumpkin spice you put in it - it's still nasty. As a result, I hate the phrase, 'Let's meet for coffee.'

Divergent is a poor man's Hunger Games. I tried my hardest to like it, but I just can't. I feel like the author hit me over the head with the story and the writing just isn't very good. I probably shouldn't hold every young adult series to the J.K. Rowling standard.

Today's #Blogtober prompt is: Best or Worst Halloween Memory

Halloween is by far and away my favorite holiday. I love everything about it - costumes, scary movies, trick-or-treaters, pumpkins. Aside from the one year it snowed during trick-or-treating, I can't think of a single bad Halloween memory.

When I was a child, my family would go to a Halloween campout every year at Cowan Lake State Park. I absolutely loved spending time with them outside in the fall air, eating chili out of a crockpot, making camper pies over the fire, and trick-or-treating from site to site dressed as Pippi Longstocking (every single year). The atmosphere at the campground was electric, with a craft fair, live music, rides for kids, pumpkin carving contests, and more. Campers would go all-out decorating their site for the occasion and some would even build elaborate haunted trails on the grounds. Those weekends are probably my fondest memories of Halloween, but last year's Indianapolis bar crawl was pretty awesome, too.

What is your favorite Halloween memory?

  1. #HashtagHater. But yes, coffee sucks. I can't stand all the 13-year-olds who think it's cool to hang out in Starbuck's and drink coffee. Ugh.

  2. OH MY GOSH ME TOO!! (About Beyonce!) It drives me crazy how much people are obsessed with "the Queen!" I thought I was the only one! Although I do have to disagree about coffee-- it's basically the only way I get through each day! (Just ask Doug- he knows not to talk to me until I've had my coffee in the morning! Haha) But when you come to visit, I'll make sure to have hot chocolate k-cups fully stocked ;)

  3. I'm with you on literally ALL of these! While some of Beyonce's songs are fun, I've never been into her or obsessed like everyone else seems to be! Yuck to coffee AND high-waisted shorts. I only drink 'coffee' if it tastes nothing like coffee, lol! I love a good hashtag and sometimes do a long one just to be funny- but I hate when people hashtag an IG post with like 30 things!!

  4. #I #Hate #Hashtags but I still find myself using them annoyingly enough. Coffee is my lifeblood so I guess we will just avoid this topic :) I'm with you on Divergent, too. I think if it was a stand alone movie, I would've loved it. But compared to Hunger Games, it was just not up to par. David, however, is team Divergent, and we just avoid that topic, too.
