Dear Future Brittany,
The truth is that there are so many things I don't know about you. I don't know where you live, what you do for a living, or if you have children. I don't know who you've lost, who you've met, or how you've changed in the last ten years. In fact, the only thing I know is what I hope for you, what I hope you've accomplished, what I hope you've learned.
I hope you listened to your gut. I hope you trusted yourself enough to make decisions that led you to the place you wanted to be. I hope you followed your heart and you have no regrets about how you got there.
I hope you're still just as head-over-heels in love with Wheat as you are right now. I hope you still remind him every single day how much he means to you. How about that for a vote of confidence in the strength of our relationship?
I hope you still talk to your parents every day. I hope you make time to spend with your siblings and their families. I hope you continue to nurture the incredible relationships you have with your friends and that time spent with them brings back good memories.
I hope you've seen more of the world. I hope you made it a point to travel, to experience new things, to challenge yourself, to constantly learn. I hope each of those experiences helped mold you into a wiser, more well-rounded person.
It's okay if you don't, but I hope you have children. If you do, I hope you are exactly like the mother that raised you. I know you love your children with every fiber of your being and I hope you set a positive example for them through your actions.
I hope the Bengals have won the Super Bowl. I hope the Penguins have hoisted the Stanley Cup. I hope the Reds have won the World Series. I hope your family bonds over sports the way they do now.
This might sound silly, but I hope you learned how to cook. You certainly struggle with that these days.
I hope you're still blogging. I hope you're still recording your memories, writing out your thoughts, and truly believe you have a life worth sharing.
Most importantly, I hope you're happy. I hope you're proud of the things you've done, the relationships you've made, the woman you've become. I know you've been through a lot, but I hope you choose to see the silver lining in every unfortunate circumstance. I hope you've learned from your mistakes and I hope you're at a place in your life where you feel truly happy.
Love,
Brittany
