On Saturday, Jenn drove to Indy and we headed to Columbus to spend some time with Tasha during TJ's bachelor party. It was everything a girls' night should be and more. We talked about everything under the sun, ate homemade cupcakes (she's the best hostess), worked it on the dance floor, shared some white chocolate fondue, nearly got kicked out of a classy martini bar, and laughed. At the end of the night, we met up with the bachelor party at R Bar, the Columbus "hockey bar," and it felt like a short, but glorious Derailed reunion.
I refuse to acknowledge the Bengals' loss on Sunday. Oops.

Today's Blogtober prompt is: Best/Worst Vacation.
If you know me at all, you know that travel and seeing new things is pretty much my lifeblood. I am constantly planning different trips, both near and far, and doing research on new things to do, eat, see, or try. I don't think I've ever had a truly bad vacation, excluding some bad sun burns or lost luggage. I was also lucky enough to grow up in a a family where travel was a priority. Thanks to this, I've traveled to some pretty incredible places, which makes narrowing it down to one really tough.
I think my favorite, however, was a trip I took to Peru with my Dad in 2006. It was a high school graduation gift of sorts and we basically spent two weeks traveling the entire country and experiencing the culture. We explored Lima, visited the impressive cathedrals of Cusco, sipped Pisco Sours, watched the sun rise from Machu Picchu, rode Perurail through the gorgeous Peruvian countryside, spent the night with a family on Lake Titicaca, ate like locals in Aguas Calientes, stepped on the floating island of Uros, and admired the beautiful sunset over the water. I also threw up on some sacred Incan sacrificial grounds (thanks to a horrible case of altitude sickness) and broke my glasses, but it was such a special bonding experience and truly the coolest place I've ever been.

Oh, Italy? I love you, too.

What?! You've been keeping secrets from me. I never knew you went to Peru.. or Italy for that matter. So cool :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure I'm commenting on the correct post but weekends like this past one need to happen more often<3
ReplyDeleteNick and Amy Dunne are an interesting couple, to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to see Gone Girl! Peru looks gorgeous! But, since I haven't been, I would have to agree that Italy is one of the most perfect places on earth! (also, in response to your last comment, I am sending prayers to your family for your mom's health!!)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit PERU!!! your pictures look amazing.
ReplyDeleteI went and saw Gone Girl last night with some girlfriends and we thought it stayed really close to the book too - for me watching the movie was very similar to reading the book.
ReplyDeleteYour girls night sounds totally amazing: fondue, dancing, martinis? Yes, yes yes! Fun!!
Also, you totally need to plan some more trips and blog about them :)
