- Pancake breakfasts. Anyone that knows my dad knows how much he loves to cook. He plans meals out days in advance and considers being asked for seconds the highest form of flattery. While Wheat and I were home over the weekend, we woke up each morning to this on the counter and chill, instrumental music playing from the TV. Absolute heaven.
- The Johnson family squirrel relocation program. It's exactly what it sounds like and I can't really decide if I love it or find it sad. In an effort to keep the squirrels from digging through his garden, my dad has been using a humane trap to capture them and move them to a nearby park. The other day, a free squirrel kept approaching the trapped squirrel and I imagined them having the saddest conversation. It went something like:
Squirrel 1: I'm so scared. PLEASE HELP ME!
Squirrel 2: I'm going to get you out of there. Just stay put. Don't worry.
Squirrel 1: Stay put?! I can't move more than four inches in either direction. Oh no, oh God...the big man is coming...
Squirrel 2: *sees my dad approaching* Sorry, dude. You're on your own. *scurries away*
Then, my dad reminded me that most of their brethren had already been moved to the park and I imagined a wonderful reunion when he was released there. Is something wrong with me?
- The Jeopardy! test. Like every year, I signed up to take the Jeopardy! test again. The questions are timed and it automatically moves to the next one after a certain number of seconds, so that makes it tough. It requires complete focus because it moves so quickly, but I'm pumped. The people who answer a certain number of questions correctly get put into a lottery and those chosen in the lottery are asked to go to an audition city so the producers can make sure you're not some kind of psycho. You know, the kind that imagines squirrels having conversations. Maybe that could be my interview story on the show...
- The American Sign Museum. In the hunt for a reception venue this weekend, we checked out the American Sign Museum in the Camp Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati. It was such an interesting, unique place tucked back where you'd probably never find it unless you were specifically looking for it. We spent a good half hour walking around the museum, checking out all the neon signs on the replica Main Street and imagining what it would be like filled with dancing friends and family. We absolutely loved the place, but the price per person was a little too steep and we simply couldn't justify it. If you're interested in old signage or a super cool wedding venue, I highly recommend checking it out. I didn't take many pictures because I felt like I was taking advantage of the free admission we got for the wedding hunt. They provide guided tours of the place and I'm planning on going back to take a better look soon.

- Dogs in sweaters. Any dog will do, but here's Prince. He looks much cuter than he is. I promise.
- "GDFR" by Flo Rida. Why do I like all Flo Rida songs (with the glaring exception of "Jump" from Disney's G-Force)? Musically, I feel like I should scoff at him, but instead, I pretty much love every song he releases. Keep doing you, Flo Rida.
Are squirrels capable of feelings and conversing with one another?
Does your city have a cool, niche museum?
Am I the only one that remembers the movie G-Force?
What's making YOU happy this week?

We have a couple weddings booked next year at The American Sign Museum and I'm PUMPED to finally go!! It looks so so neat! :) that dog in a sweater is just too adorable!!!! The squirrel trap conversation is killing me. I'm glad he's only relocating them :)
ReplyDeletePancakes make everything better! I'm sorry you're sick and hope you feel better soon!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you getting married?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, our dads would totally be friends because my dad made his own squirrel trap and then would catch them and transport them to a park (across a busy street!). I remember many rides to that park with the squirrel squealing in the back seat! I like to think they were much happier after their relocation! :)
ReplyDeleteDenny said he can't smell or taste anything right now & he's sick. Squirrel conversation.. I believe it happened. I feel guilty giving Ollie stuffed animals because I'm still scared Toy Story is real. Lol Yay mom is using the purse I got her! Is it time to get married yet?!
ReplyDeleteZilla
best post ever? your dad sounds awesome (i'll take a pancake breakfast anyday), the squirrel relocation program made me giggle, and i think a wedding at a sign museum sounds AWESOME (imagine all the fun pics!)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're having health issues. Those are never fun or easy to deal with. I hope you return to healthy soon! Those pancakes look amazing + I have to agree, Flo Rida's music is SO cathy but so shameful haha.
ReplyDeleteHaha I do believe that squirrel conversation happened! I'm the same way as you. I just have such a soft spot for animals. There was a mouse at a gym I used to work at and I went to great lengths to ensure we got a live trap, so that he/she could be released back into the world unharmed. I actually stayed late that day because I knew if I wasn't there, they would just put out the other traps and the little thing might not make it lol I think it's nice that your dad uses humane traps to relocate them. Also, if he ever decides to run a b&b, sign me up because I love me some pancakes! Oh, and I might have paid too much money to go to a club once and watch Flo Rida perform haha No shame!
ReplyDeleteIf it's not health, it's something else :( life can be so unfair sometimes. But girl, I am praying for YOU!
ReplyDeleteI literally want to dive into that picture of pancakes! Breakfast foods are totally my jam right now, yum!
