Happy Thoughts Thursday

Thanks to my recent stress level and NBC's decision to cast Allison Williams as Peter Pan for their upcoming live musical, I've been repeating Pan's mantra to myself on the hour every hour: Think Happy Thoughts. I'm curious and strangely excited to see Marnie flying around in green tights, but let's get to the happy thoughts, shall we?

+ Nashville. I leave tomorrow for a quick weekend getaway to Music City with my love and two great friends. I'm going to try my hardest to relax, listen to good music, eat some pancakes, and take a break from stress. Easier said than done, but with a tour guide this good-looking, I think I have a shot.

Last year's amazing trip to Nashville.

+ Game of Thrones. In reality, I've been avoiding this show for quite some time. Although I'm not a huge fantasy fan, we decided to give it a chance, due in part to the track record of HBO original programming and rave reviews from friends and my brother. As expected, we're hooked and halfway through season two. Peter Dinklage is an absolute revelation.

+ Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. Enough said.

+ Trivia Playoffs. Lately, Wheat and I have really hit our stride with trivia. We go every Monday night (when he doesn't have a game) and in the last four weeks, we've won $140 in Tin Roof cash. Not bad, eh? Even better, we qualified for the Indianapolis trivia playoffs in August! We need to recruit three more players to have any kind of shot at a prize, but we're both pumped.

They take your picture when you win. It's uncomfortable.

+ "Chandelier" by Sia. One of my favorite bloggers, Kayla at My Kind of Yellow, blogged about a Sara Bareilles cover of this song and now the original is stuck in my head. I'm not complaining.

What is an absolute must-see while in Nashville?
Do you hate King Joffrey as much as I do?
What's making YOU happy this week?

  1. Wasn't her cover of it amazing?! I just love it. The video (and Sia) is a little out there, but still... She's an incredible song-writer!! Enjoy Nashville!!!

  3. aaaaaaaaaahaha. That opening line about Allison Williams. Seriously, I don't even know how she was considered, much less got the part!? I guess I have trouble seeing it because she is SUCH a Marnie. Did you see her sing on Girls at Charlie's App party?! SO MUCH CRINGING. Although, if I were casting ::::: Bieber as Peter Pan, Selena Gomez as Wendy, Miranda Kerr as Tinkerbell, Captain Hook is Orlando Bloom, Taylor Swift or Demi Lovato is Tiger Lilly, Michael/George is probably some variation of Bieber's group (Scooter Braun? Will Smith's son?). I have another version where it's all Kardashians, but it's pointless because I'm not actually casting this show (someone else did and they cast ALLISON WILLIAMS, UGGGHHHH).

Anyhowwww....have fun in Nashville! I feel like your tour guide is probs the best, but if you like coffee dranks and stuff, man, Barista Parlor had that on lock. Also, I in no way hate King Joffrey -- that actor is the BEST. Man, King Joffrey kills it. (literally; he kills everyone). I hope you're enjoying GoT.

Good luck at trivia. Call me if you think there will be categories on pointless shit nobody should know: Kardashian storylines, Real Housewives villains, the Miami University Spanish department circa 2010. I'll be there.
