After months of intense worrying and more tears than I can count, I had just undergone my very first (dreaded) colonoscopy. I had also gone 36 hours with nothing but Sprite, Gatorade, chicken broth, and Miralax in my system. The day of my colonoscopy prep was filled with tense emotions, a brief period of unconsciousness (I passed out at work), violent vomiting (due to the Gatorade/Miralax mixture), and other details that I'll spare you from...because I like you too much. What I will share, however, is that the procedure revealed an absolutely normal, healthy colon and I was reminded yet again how many incredible people I have in my life.
Wheat, who had the day off, insisted on getting up with me at 3:00 AM as I chugged another 32-oz. container of Gatorade/Miralax solution, then cuddled me back to sleep. Instead of sleeping in, he rode along with us to the endoscopy center and even whisper-sang to me as I got my IV. My parents, who didn't need to come at all since Wheat had the day off, insisted on driving to Indianapolis the night before. My mom folded the laundry and held my hair back as I threw up while my dad made a last-second trip to the store to buy my replacement prep materials. And when she heard the good news after the procedure, my mom cried tears of relief and joy before I was even alert enough to comprehend what had happened. That's not to mention the good-luck texts of support from my best friend.
So yeah, I'm lucky - lucky to be healthy and even luckier to love and be so well loved by these incredible people. This experience also served as yet another personal reminder that it's no use losing sleep over something that might not even happen, but that's a post for another day.
So, with my belly full of pancakes, my mind full of good news, and my heart full of warm fuzzies, I took a four-hour nap and slept off most of my sedatives. Much to my doctor's dismay, Wheat and I also went to a One Direction concert at Lucas Oil Stadium that night. Oops. Aside from the exhausting stair climb to our seats in the stratosphere, the concert was excellent. Swedish pop group Icona Pop opened for them, but we missed most of their set. We did, however, catch their new single "Emergency" and, of course, "I Love It."
When we could actually hear them over the shrieking teenyboppers that filled the stadium, the boys of 1D sounded great. Seriously, if loving those guys is wrong, then I don't want to be right. Plus, if you haven't found yourself sobbing, alone in your car, to the lyrics of "What Makes You Beautiful," then something is definitely wrong with you. Oh, that's just me?

So, if you're ever searching high and low for the perfect way to feel both super old and super young in the same day, I highly recommend getting your colon examined then promptly fan-girling over One Direction. Just make sure you have a responsible driver to get you there. Even though you're well over 16, you're not allowed to operate a vehicle with those drugs in your system.

I absolutely LOVE you Brit!

Don't lie...you totally noticed no one could sing the high part in "Steal My Girl" without Zayn there.
