Commercial Countdown

Although my primary draw to the Super Bowl is obviously the football, I do enjoy the commercials. So, in an effort to avoid dwelling on the start of the long and torturous football off-season, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite commercials from Super Bowl XLVI. Here they are:

1. Chrysler's “Halftime in America” – Oh. I’m crying and it has nothing to do with an injured player or the outcome of the game? Weird. Seriously, this one got the lump-in-the-throat going. Clearly, the Patriots needed Clint Eastwood in the locker room at halftime.

2. Honda's “Matthew’s Day Off” – I’ve included the full-length version because it is vastly superior to the one they showed during the game. If you love Ferris Bueller’s Day Off as much as I do, you had to love this. WAH WAH! Chicka-chicka.

3. Chevy Silverado's “2012” – Hilarious. Timely ad, according to the Mayan calendar. Blatantly making fun of the maker of my car. I think we all know Twinkies will be the only food to survive the apocalypse.

4. M&M's “Just My Shell” – Perfect. When he tore off his shell, I lost my mind.

5. Samsung Mobile USA's “Thing Called Love” – I wasn’t completely in love with the commercial, but there was a guest appearance from my favorite lover football player of all-time. Brian Keith Urlacher. Enjoy.

Honorable Mentions: Dorito’s “Sling Baby,” Kia’s “A Dream Car for Real Life,” and Toyota’s “It’s Reinvented”

Which commercial was your favorite?

  1. The Clint Eastwood commercial was incredible!

I also really liked the Thing Called Love commercial. Mostly because it had the guy from The Darkness...I totally forgot they existed until I saw that commercial haha

  2. Thank you so much for posting these! Since I didn't watch the Super Bowl I've been out of the loop on the commercials. I loved the Clint Eastwood one, but Matthew's Day Off was hilarious. Specifically when he told the small child on the roller coaster to "Calm down woman!"
