I'm still alive.

Whoa, guys. I didn't intend to, but I guess I took a mid-season break. Walking Dead-style. Just needed a few months to breathe, decompress, and focus on living. Work has really ramped up in the last few months, so the last thing I want to do when I get home is stare at a computer for another couple hours. I absolutely love this outlet and reading other blogs, but sometimes, I need a break to reinvigorate my passion for my little corner of the Internet.

But, I'm back...and hopefully better than ever.

Keeping in line with my mid-season break analogy, here's what you missed on Brittany (brought to you by my frazzled brain and Instagram):

- Life is crazy. Every time I think I'll finally be able to slow down, something comes up and I'm back to worrying, planning, and go-go-going. I'll spare you the gory details, but we've had several pieces of bad news in our family, so I've been trying to accept, deal, and move forward. I'm also in the midst of planning my best friend's bachelorette party, our honeymoon (to London, Munich, and Amsterdam!), and our 10-year high school reunion. Organizational overload.

- Married life is awesome. Honestly, it's no different than life before the big day, but I think that's a testament to our relationship. Every single day feels like a dream with Wheat. The instant we're apart, I'm counting down to when I see him again. I still plan on blogging about our wedding, so I'll save the mushy stuff for later.

- Christmas was nice. Wheat and I spent it apart, but it was wonderful to be with my parents. My sister wasn't able to come home, so it felt a little empty in the house, but I guess that's adulthood. I hosted two wonderful gift exchanges with friends - one with my best girlfriends from home, the other with my awesome college housemates. My Central Perk girls carpooled all the way from Cincinnati to Indianapolis to exchange gifts, eat, laugh, and catch up with each other. Katie even brought her dreamy little babe and I obsessed over her for a few hours. I can't believe how lucky I am in the friend department.

- New Year's Eve was also very chill. Wheat had a game, so my good friend Alex came to Indianapolis to visit. We went to Bru Burger for dinner and spent the evening laughing at Pitbull's New Year's Eve special. The next day, we celebrated an Ohio State victory in the Fiesta Bowl and I realized yet again that I have the coolest friends ever.

- Wheat and I traveled to St. Louis for a long weekend to visit my friend Hannah (separate post on that trip coming later), Wheat's brother Chandler came to visit, and I made a couple more trips home to be with my family. I watched Kobe Bryant sink three consecutive 3-pointers against the Pacers in his farewell game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Wheat and I saw comedian Jeff Dunham's Perfectly Unbalanced show for free and were pleasantly surprised by how much we laughed. We tried some new restaurants in town (Corner Cantina, Santorini Greek Kitchen, and the Tap) and battled some wicked colds and sinus issues. The Broncos won the Super Bowl and we celebrated with cookie cake while Wheat swooned over Peyton Manning. I stayed the night with Jenn, Paul, and Kenzie and met Jenn and Sib for dinner at Steak 'n Shake. All that overdue girl time soothed my soul like nothing else.

- ...and the best news of all, I'M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!!!! LP and Elizabeth are expecting a little girl, Scarlett Elizabeth, in April and words can't express how excited I am. If you know me at all, you know how I feel about babies, so it'd probably be best for them to file the restraining order proactively.

So yeah, life has been crazy. Mostly in a good way, but crazy nonetheless. Here's to viewing this space as a way to relax and reflect, instead of as an obligation.
