You know the feeling you get when your wanderlust finally sends you careening over the edge of sanity and you suddenly feel so cooped up and tired of being where you are? I've been feeling that exact feeling in full force until the weather decided to uncharacteristically imitate mid-April this past weekend. Then, while showing Wheat's friend from high school around town, I fell head over heels in love with Indianapolis again.
It was some magical combination of cajun food from Yats, a quick jaunt around the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and a stroll along the thawing canal that made my heart yearn for spring in the Hoosier state. Seriously, there is no better time to visit. Hint, hint.
Of course, it didn't hurt that we continued the night with dinner at Bru Burger, my favorite restaurant in Indy. We finished that off with frozen yogurt from Pearings, some arcade game dancing, and a late-night showing of American Sniper. As you can see, we've become quite proficient at living here.
Over the last few weeks, I've been unnecessarily overwhelmed with plans and trips, so I'm making a conscious effort to truly appreciate where I am (and who I'm with) in every moment. I must say - it has already improved my mood immensely. Give it a try. It's refreshing to feel like an admiring visitor in your own town.

I miss YATS! and you :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I didn't give my best effort in our last location (although I did try to take advantage of the hiking!) so I'm determined to do that here! There's totally a LOVE sign like that in Scottsdale :)
ReplyDeleteSo much love for you Brittany!

I tend to get restless in a place really fast and I definitely regret not making the most of some of the places I've lived. We've been in Halifax for over a year now and I haven't felt that feeling yet and I definitely think it's because I've made it my mission to constantly get out and keep exploring and discovering new things. I still feel like I'm in the honeymoon phase! There's really nothing like showing someone around to make you realize how great your city is and how much it has to offer. So happy you're feeling the love again!
ReplyDeletesounds like such a fun weekend - i love going to art museums (always), and any day that ends with American Sniper is bound to be a good one (we loved the film!)
